All New 2012 Chevrolet Cobalt Revealed in Production Form, will be Available in 40 Countries


The Chevrolet Cobalt may be dead in the States where it was successfully replaced by the Cruze sedan, but the nameplate lives on in the rest of the world.

After the debut of the concept version at the Buenos Aires motor show this past summer, General Motors today introduced the final production 2012 Cobalt that will eventually go on sale in 40 countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South America - but not North America.

In addition to Brazil, which is the first country to receive the new Chevrolet Cobalt, the car will be produced in three more factories around the world, though GM did not disclose any more details on the locations.

2012 Honda Ridgeline Pictured, Priced and Detailed, gets New Sport Trim


Despite seeing its sales drop by close to 50 percent in the first eight months of 2011 (from 11,320 units in Jan-Aug 2010, to 5,776 in the same period this year), the Honda Ridgeline is here to stay – at least for another year, that is.

For the 2012MY, Honda has made some mild changes to its unibody pickup truck that include visual tweaks, the introduction of a new Sport model and improved highway fuel economy.

2012 Volkswagen Tiguan Sports up with New R-Line Packages


Volkswagen is adding some pizazz to its recently facelifted 2012 Tiguan SUV with the release of two R-Line packages, one for the interior and one for the exterior. Both packages are designed for the ‘Sport & Style’ trim model and come with a slew of visual upgrades.

On the outside, the exterior treatment includes more aggressively designed front and rear bumpers, roof spoiler, a black rear diffuser, R-Line logos, aluminium door sill plates and newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels with 255/40 tires.

Official: Hot Opel Astra OPC / Vauxhall Astra VXR gets 280 Ponies, on Sale in 2012


It’s finally official; the production version of the most powerful model in the new Astra GTC range that will be marketed as the Opel Astra OPC in mainland Europe and as the Vauxhall Astra VXR in Britain.

These pictures show the Vauxhall model but the styling and the performance specifications are common between the two Astra GTC-based hot hatches.

Power is derived from a new 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder engine capable of 280-horsepower and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque that are channeled to the front wheels via 6-speed manual gearbox and a specially developed mechanical limited slip differential.

2013 Volkswagen CC Facelift Unveiled Before its LA Auto Show World Premiere


Some four years and 270,000 sales worldwide after the launch of the Volkswagen Passat's flashy four-door coupe sibling, it's time for the CC to receive its first mid-life makeover.

Set to make its world debut at the upcoming 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show later this month, the 2013 Volkswagen Passat packs some select visual scrub ups to bring it up to date with the German brand's more recent offerings.

You can spot the new model by the redesigned front that gets a new chrome-trimmed grille, reshaped headlamps that incorporate a ring of LEDs and a reworked bumper.

Honda Publishes Mega Gallery with 140+ Photos of Euro-Spec 2012 Civic Hatchback


If you found our recent photo gallery of the European market 2012 Honda Civic at the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show somewhat lacking in quantity, you'll be happy to know that the Japanese carmaker has just dropped more than 140 high resolution pictures of the hatchback model for your viewing pleasure.

Honda claims that its new Civic hatchback is a great leap forward not only for the company but for the European C-segment as well, something that is echoed in the latest statements from the car's project leader, Mitsuru Karita.

Hyundai Confirms Veloster Turbo for Australian Market

We've known about the turbocharged version of the Veloster since January, but Hyundai only recently made it official.

Following the announcement on the debut of the North American Velsoter Turbo at the Detroit Motor Show in January of 2012, the company's Australian arm revealed today that a 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine would join the three-door sport hatchback's line-up.

Fiat Video Teases 500 Abarth “Bad Boy's” Arrival in the States


The American division of the Fiat Group is trying to create some buzz around the arrival of the most potent version of its retro-styled city car to date, the 500 Abarth, with a new video teaser.

Fiat's 23-second spot starts out by asking viewers "Does this country need another outcast?" and "Does this country need another rebel and another bad boy?", with the actual 500 Abarth only making a quick appearance towards the end.

Shocker: Ford Slaps a $39,995* Sticker on Pure-Electric 2012 Focus EV


Ask any owner of a Nissan Leaf or Chevrolet Volt, and they'll tell you that going green comes at a cost – not necessarily at the electric outlet, but at the dealership.

Same goes for Ford's foray into the electric-car market, the all-new 2012 Focus EV that carries an MSRP of $39,200 plus a $795 delivery and handling fee* that brings the total to $39,975. That's more than double the cost of the entry-level Focus SE 5-door hatchback.

Fiat Introduces Subtly Updated 2012MY Sedici Crossover in Europe


The last time Fiat performed upgrades to its Sedici small crossover was in 2009, but the Italian company still has a few mild improvements planned for the 2012 model year.

The visual tweaks for the 2012MY Fiat Sedici mainly consist of the redesigned exterior mirrors that incorporate turning signals and are finished in a metallic gray hue, the introduction of a Purple Rebel color (pictured above), fresh alloy wheel designs and new upholstery for the interior.

Peugeot Officially Unveils New 208 Supermini Ahead of Spring 2012 Launch [Photos and Video]


After yesterday’s leak of the first pictures of the new Peugeot 208, the French company went ahead and officially revealed its brand-new supermini that will replace the current 207 series.

The A9 project, which is the new 208’s internal designation, is very important for Peugeot as it will compete in the highly competitive European B-segment rivaling the likes of the Ford Fiesta and Toyota Yaris.

Its significance for Peugeot is evident in the marketing tag applied by the company's management: “Re-Generation”. The French firm's Marketing and Communications Director, Xavier Peugeot, said: “The 208 is a new illustration of the marque’s project launched two years ago, representing a new stage in Peugeot’s desire to drive itself towards even greater modernity.”

Varley evR450 is Australia’s First-Ever Electric Supercar


Australia’s claim to performance cars revolves mostly around V8-powered sport saloons such as the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon. Powerful? Yes, especially the Holden HSV models but they are as far from the world of supercars as Australia is from the North Pole.

Renault Unveils Micra-Based Pulse Supermini for the Indian Market


Caterham wasn’t the only carmaker to take advantage of the inaugural Indian F1 Grand Prix to get the pundit’s attention; renault did the same, with COO Carlos Tavares lifting the wraps off the French brand's new Pulse supermini on October 29.

The Pulse will be built locally at the Renault-Nissan Alliance's plant at Chennai and is the third model the French carmaker has introduced this year in India.

Leaked! First Official Photos of New Peugeot 208 Supermini


The brand-new 2012 Peugeot 208 wasn't supposed to make its official appearance until later this week, but the first photos of the French supermini have already hit the interwebs.

The 208 is the successor to the Peugeot 207 that has been in production since 2006, and it will compete against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo and Fiat Punto in the highly popular in Europe, B-segment.

According to the first details that were published along with the pictures, the 208 is more compact than the 207 measuring 3,975mm long, or 70mm less than its predecessor. More importantly, Peugeot's engineers managed to reduce the weight by a whopping 110kg or close to 250 pounds on average across the range.

New MINI Roadster Hits the Streets of Turkey in its First Promo Video


MINI's marketing team wants to bring an international flair to the new Coupe and Roadster models with its latest advertising campaigns.

Much like the first video of the helmet-roofed Coupe that was shown driving through various parts of Brazil, Iceland and Hong Kong, the Roadster's first action footage takes us on a trip to the streets of Turkey.

New 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth Reaches U.S. Shores, will Debut at L.A. Show


The Fiat Group may be constantly delaying Alfa Romeo's return to the U.S. market but at least it's keeping its word with the 500 range.

After the regular three-door hatchback and the rolling soft top 500C, Fiat is now introducing the most stimulating (from a driver's perspective) version of the series, the sporty Abarth model, which will be making its debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 18.

All-New MINI Roadster Makes its Official Debut, wants to Challenge the MX-5 [254 Photos]


With its eyes set on conquering a slice of the convertible market from the popular Mazda MX-5, MINI has revealed the final production version of the Roadster.

The Roadster is the soft-top variant of the Coupe introduced earlier this summer, and is the sixth model to be added to MINI's line-up as well as the first open-top two-seater in the brand's history.

As is the case with the Coupe, the Roadster is based on the current Mini hatchback so it doesn't come to much of a surprise that its dimensions largely mirror those of the Mini Convertible at 3,734mm long, 1,683mm wide and 1,390mm tall.

All-New 2012 Honda CR-V: First Official Photos of Production Model


Over the past few months we've brought you pictures of camouflaged prototypes, the loosely disguised concept and even the patent designs of the next 2012 Honda CR-V, but today, thanks to our tipster Andy Ye, we bring you the first official images of the final production model.

Not surprisingly, the styling changes over the concept CR-V we saw this summer are restricted to the matte finish of the plastic cladding on the body, the smaller wheels and the clear graphics on the headlamps and tail lamps.

Honda has previously said that its new SUV will be "more sophisticated and dynamic" than its predecessor while also offering improved interior space and versatility as well as a suit of new technologies.

BMW Begins Regular Production of new 2012 3-Series Sedan


With the official presentation out of the way, the BMW Group began series production of its new premium sedan, the 2012 3-Series, at is Munich plant in Germany as it prepares for its worldwide market launch in February next year.

“The BMW 3 Series is the most important volume-produced model from the BMW Group as well as the biggest-selling model in the entire premium segment," said Frank-Peter Arndt, Member of the BMW AG Board of Management responsible for production.

Report: Ferrari California to Receive Mild Life Facelift with a Power Upgrade for 2012

When Ferrari launched the California in 2008, the hardtop roadster model was a novelty for Maranello. Despite objections from purists, Ferrari proved to be right and the California was a major sales success.

Not only did it boost the brand’s sales but it also succeeded in its original goal to bring in buyers who would only consider Aston Martins, Porsches and Bentleys as they found Ferraris to be impractical.

Now, according to CAR magazine, Ferrari’s front-engined V8 model is about to get a major overhaul for 2012, with production of the refreshed version beginning as early as January.
